Lying between the latitudes 26°N and 30°N and longitudes 80°E and 88°E, the Himalayan Kingdom of Nepal, is bordered by the Tibet autonomous region of China on the north, and by the Indian mainland on the east, south and western sides respectively. The total area of Nepal is 1, 47,181 square kilometer with the length of 885 kilometers east to west and breath varies from 145 to 241 kilometers north-south. 
 
The Kingdom of Nepal is a land where nature lovers get reveled in a unique setting of beautiful mountain peaks and is a land of rare scenic majesty. The land drops sharply downwards in a short 215-km distance through Rocky Mountains, coniferous, calm and tropical forests, terraces of paddy, millet and corn to the low-lying foothills, which make the southern borders, where they join with the plains of India. Nepal can geographically be divided into four belts; (I) The Great Himalayan Range, (II) The Mountain Region, (III) The Sylvan Churia Foothills & the Inner Terai Zone, and (IV) The Plain Land Terai along with Indian border.

(I) The Great Himalayan Range: The altitude of this region ranges between 4500 meters and 8848 meters that occupies 15 percent of total land area, which include more than 8 of the existing 14 summits exceeding the altitude of 8000m in the world; such as Mt. Everest 8848m, Mt. Kangchenjunga 8586m, Mt. Lhotse 8516m, Mt. Yalung Kang 8505m, Mt. Makalu 8463m, Mt. Cho-Oyo 8201m, Mt. Dhaulagiri 8167m, Mt. Manaslu 8163m, Annapurna –I 8091m., and many other beautiful mountain peaks.

(II) Mountain Region: This region occupies for about 68 percent of the total land area that has been formed between the Mahabharata Range and the Great Himalayan range, which goes through the roof up to 4500m in elevation. As Nepal is diversified by various ethnic groups, and the people of all races and religions live in this region. This region includes the Kathmandu valley, Jomsom Bazaar, Dolpo, Pokhara, Namche Bazaar, etc.

(III) The Sylvan Churia foothills and the Inner Terai Zone: The sparingly populated Churia Hills and the Inner Terai region get higher to the rocky Mahabharata Mountain Range. The inter-mountain basins are covered of forests. This belt arrays altitude varies from 600m to 900m.
 
(IV) Terai Region: The low-land part of Nepal, the plain land along the Indian border, is called Terai region, which has a width, varies from 26 to 32 kilometers with a maximum altitude of 305 meters that occupies 17% of total land areas.
 
 The village “Kechanakalan” with an altitude of 70 situated in Jhapa district (Eastern Terai) is the lowest point of the country. The Terai plain is flat and fertile. The eastern and southern Terai land area is highly agricultural and where it joins the foothills of sylvan Churia Hills is marshy and forested.
 
The climate of Nepal differs from subtropical monsoon conditions in the Terai region and alpine conditions in the Himalayan region. The annual rainfalls range from 70 and 75 inches in the eastern Terai and between 30 and 35 inches in western Nepal. The overflow caused of heavy rainfall is a difficult problem in the monsoon season, from July-September each year. The winter swells from December to February and the temperature varies from 22°C in the southern Terai region to 15°C in the intermountain basins and the mercury varies from 21°C to 40°C during the summer season. Temperature ranges between maximum of 40 and minimum of 6 degree Celsius in the plains, 28 and 2 degree Celsius in the Kathmandu valley and 22 and 6 degree Celsius in the mountains. The rainy season lasts from mid of May to Mid of September.
